I prefer the look of Maia. I never liked the way Maya or Mya looked for some reason. Certain letters look more appealing to me. If you want the y spelling and don't mind how popular it is, then I suggest Maya.
I think the added bonus of Maia is that it is less common than Maya.

Maya. I like it better.

Maia is so much more streamline and elegant to me. Maya...well it just looks commonplace. Maia looks like an artist.

I have only just trained myself to see Maia and think MY-uh. In the past I had always heard these names (albeit only in my head and not in real life) as MAY-ah, which I don't find appealing.
Maya still brings to mind the latter pronunciation which is why I prefer Maia. The TV show 'the 100' has helped me recognise MY-uh as the much more accepted pronunciation but I think I will always struggle to see this with the spelling Maya.Anyway though, I am a fan of the name and Maia (MY-uh) is a relatively new addition to my long list.

I like Maia well enough and definitely prefer this classic spelling. I've only known two: one who is my youngest dd's age (spelled Myuh, ugh) and one my middle dd's age (spelled Maia).

Maya for me. Maia's gorgeous but looks too delicate (if that makes sense to anyone besides me).

Maya if you're pronouncing it like Maya Angelou, Maia if you're pronouncing it like may-a.I used to like the name years ago, I don't anymore. Not sure why. It's a sweet name, one I wouldn't mind seeing.

I like them both. Maia was an Ancient Greek Titanesse. Maya is the name of two good friends of mine. I like Maya better, but both are great!

I associate Maia with spring and stars. I associate Maya with the Maya peoples and Maya Angelou; apparently it also means "illusion" in Sanskrit and "water" in Hebrew. They're multidimensional, and I like the sound. I prefer the spelling Maia.

I prefer Maia. I think it's sweet, perhaps due to my dd's BFF who is named this.. she is a total doll.
