[Opinions] Welsh, Irish, Celtic Names
I need some ideas for a name of a girl band. I'd like to use Welsh, Irish, or Celtic names or names that are similar to those.Wunderkind_Princess

A names from mythology is just the ticket. Off the top of my head, Angharad immediately came to mind. It's from Welsh mythology, although I'm not sure of her particular story. The "g" is silent, by the way, "ann-HAR-ad."Another possibility is Andraste, "ann-DRAS-tee." This was a Celtic goddess. Boudicca, in her 4th (or 5th?) century revolt against Roman legions in Britain, prayed to Andraste before going into battle. (The Romans had just raped her two dds and she was going to get revenge.) Quite a story, really. I'd google Andraste and Boudicca to get the details straight though. Other possibilities: Emer (EE-mer), Aoife (EE-fa, warrior princess in Irish myth).Another thought. Go to the home page on this site. See the listing of various ethnic backgrounds in the middle of the page? Click on Irish names if it's listed. If not, then click on other and a larger list of categories will pop up. You can choose Irish, Scottish, Welsh, or I think there's one for ancient mythology over to the right. It's addictive. But you should be able to find something there. Good luck, and let us know what you ultimately choose. P.S. Don't be confused if you see Boudicca referred to as a "Briton." When she was living, the Celts lived all over what is now England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and northwest France (Brittany).
