[Opinions] Katya or Maya?
What do you think of Katya? Do you prefer Katia or Katya? Catia? Katya, Katia (any spelling you like) or Maya (any spelling)? And what are your opinions on Maya?

I far prefer Maya. Every time I hear of a new Kate etc person or a newish Kate etc name, I fear that the planet might crack open under the weight of them all.Do you know the German TV cartoon series about Maya the Bee? Delightful stuff. That's what I think of, before ancient Roman months and ancient South American civilisations. But I think I prefer Maia because it looks more like MIEa, which is what I hope it sounds like, rather than MAYa.

UGH I can't choose! I love Katya spelled just as is and Maya spelled just as is. They're both very timeless sounding to me and very... energetic.

I adore Katya, but I'd only use it on a Russian character. I don't think it would work on an English speaker...so, Maya it is!

I know a Katya and I'm in Canada. No one has a problem saying it.

I think Katya is just all right. This spelling please. It is very difficult to top Maya (MY-uh) as a name. It's wonderful. I would have used it for a daughter. This spelling please.

Hi !!!Maya forever!!!
I like all its three meanings! It is an Indian name, a name of a famous people and finally the variant of an Ancient Roman name. Oh..a Hebrew name too related with water! So it is perfect!I tell the true: my favourite meaning is the Indian one for it so I would use it only if there are links with India. Or I would use it as pet name (but for the American people meaning).Katya is simply an unattractive, tacky NN imo..sorry TT

I like Maia (MY-uh) and Katya as a nn. In order of preference:Maia > Katya (as a nn) > Maya > Katya (as a fn) > Katia > Catia
