I completely forgot about this name. I used to have a real thing for it.
What do you think of it? Why is it so underused?
Does Toni as a nickname possibility ruin it for you? (I like the name in full. The first syllable is a crucial part of Antonia's appeal to me.)
Eta: oh no, is Tonya a nickname option too? That really does almost ruin it for me. Tonya is so slithery it grosses me out.

I love Antonia! It's effortlessly elegant.
It's probably underused because it's stately! Unapologetically stately names are often unpopular.
Neither Toni nor Tonya are inevitable nicknames, in my opinion, so they don't affect my love of Antonia.

It's okay, but only okay. I think it sounds severe and a bit cold. The Ann Toh Nee A sound makes me think vaguely of chemicals, for some reason.
I think Toni is very cute, and I'd just use Toni on its own if I wanted that name. Tonya/Tanya doesn't seem a real likely nn, because 1. the sounds of it and Antonia are pretty different and 2. Tonya and Tanya are already almost always used by themselves.
I much prefer Antoinette if we're talking about a feminine forms of Anthony. I happen to love Anthony for a boy, and Antonio is pretty cool too. The o ending takes away the chemical aftertaste.

I want to like it but was bullied by an Antonia as a small child and I always think of that
I also dislike Toni. Could Annie work. The one I knew went by Tonya I'm afraid but it is a rarely used name so maybe doesn't have a natural nickname.

I knew an Antonia who just went by her name in full, who was pretty cool (in a punk rock, goth, I'm so dark kind of way) if a bit try hard sometimes. She also had a little brother called Nikolai nn Niki, who was similar and super adorable (his name is one of my favourites, and he did help me love it even more.
Anyway, I think it's a nice name, definitely prefer it in full to Toni and much more than Tonya. I'm not sure they'd ruin it for me, especially as Tonya in particular I think could be avoided. I haven't a clue why it's underused, although it is rising where I live and not unpopular, but maybe people just forget about it and go for more popular options.

I think its a really cute name. I don't think a lot people like because it's too old-fashioned sounding.
Toni and Tonya are good nicknames for it. But if you don't like either, Nia could work. This is probably a stretch by maybe even Annie could be an option.
