[Opinions] Re: Oscar
I can't care for it. I can only think of Oscar the Grouch and Oscar Madison. For some reason, Oscar Wilde never comes to mind when I see or hear the name. I agree it's funny and geeky, but I fail to see any handsomeness. I can't think of any nicknames, and I don't see why a nickname would be necessary. Oscar is only two syllables and it trips right off the tongue.I'm not sure that Oscar Wilde is a great namesake. Yes, he was talented and brilliant, but he also suffered persecution for his homosexuality and died destitute at age 46. Not saying he was a bad guy, at all, just that when I think of him it brings sadness.

nicknames for me aren't so much for length or simplicity, but more for terms of endearment. especially since Oscar can sound overly formal to some people. that's a good point though about Oscar Wilde. it's very important i think that his story be known, but perhaps not by being named after him. thanks for pointing that out.
