Louise is popping up on my name radar quite a bit. It’s always lurked in my lower top 20 but now, I believe it may be a top 5 contender.
Would you ever use it as a first name?
Not Louisa, mind, which I also like. I’m only speaking if Louise.
It’s piqued a huge revival in France right now; I think it might be in the number 1 position, but I’d need to check.
The problem is that the only combo that fully resonates for me is Louise Madeleine, which is fine, but I wish there were more optimal resonances with lovely Louise.

I love Louise. I think it's a great underused (here in the US) classic name. It's not a typical girl name at the moment. It's much more austere than the Isabella, Sophia type of name that's so in at present.
I prefer Louise to Lucy SO dramatically I can't explain it. Louise has so much more going on than flaky old Lucy.

I hate Louise very much. I can't stand the "weeze" sound at the end.
Lucy or Louise, it's no contest. Lucy is classic, pretty, spunky, and yes, it's cute, but it's not too cute for a grown woman to carry. Louise is ugly.
And I was just reminded, lol. I had to edit because I left the I out of Louise in my first sentence. And saw that without the I it spells "louse". Ew yuk.

It's a very 80s name in the UK and was a really popular 'filler' middle name, so feels a little dull to me. I can imagine in the US it would sound fresher though.

I’ve always liked it because of the tender way Billy from Carousel says his daughter’s name. I should tell you that there’s an annoying regular at work named Louise, and I’ve re-christened her “Wheezy” behind her back. So it’s not 100% teaseproof, but what is?
