Matilda. I just much prefer that name to Helena. I don't like the sound of Helena and it seems a little boring. Matilda has more spunk imo and I love the nn Tilly.

I would choose Helena just because it fits my taste more than Matilda does, but I like both names.

Helena, because I have always preferred Mathilde to Matilda. Helene has been a favorite of mine for a while and Helena is nice too.

I love both, but the pronunciation issue with Helena is a bit irritating. So, I’d choose Matilda on that basis alone. I do slightly prefer it aesthetically as well.

Matilda - it's very popular here in the UK, but understandably so, as it's beautiful.I do like Helena, but my older sister is Helen, and given we have a difficult relationship, I couldn't choose a name so similar to hers.

Helena has two conflicting pronunciations (at least!) and therefore personalities. And where I live it has a third. So, no. I'd use Helen IRL without hesitation, but never Helena.Matilda can be Matty or Matts, Tilly or Tilda, or she could stay Matilda. I like options. Matilda survives the unofficial Australian national anthem because of its medieval energy, glamour and toughness; plus it was the name - not given by us - of the best dog we ever had. It's a winner!

I like them both, but I love Helena. It's less dated and frumpy than Matilda and it's never been super popular, so it's timeless. It's also gorgeous and sophisticated.

I'd choose Matilda. It sounds like a light, happy name to me. It just happens to appeal to me more at the moment.Helena seems a bit heavier but in the right combo it's a beautiful and elegant name.

Matilda has been growing on me and I stuck it in a combo recently, but Helena has been my favorite name for 10+ years so obviously Helena.

Matilda, simply because Helena has three possible pronunciations.

Helena because, while it's not a fave, Matilda is butt ugly.
