Help[Opinions] Casper or Kasper?
I have a hard time deciding on which spelling I like the most/should use. Both are legit spellings here, and the two most common ones. Casper were used 172 times last year, and Kasper 67 times. It is #67 on the top 100 list.
I've always liked Kasper more, and I don't think of the friendly ghost when spelled with a K. It also feels a bit less childish to me. I'm now thinking that maybe I should go with the Casper spelling instead, even though that isn't my favorite one, because when it comes to all other names I prefer the C spelling over the K one (Victor, Lucas, Oscar etc) and it would bug me if siblings had different spellings (ie the C or K spelling). But then again - who knows if I'm actually going to have more children, and if that child will have a name with a C or K in it?
I'm probably overthinking this, but what are your thoughts, ideas, and impression of Casper/Kasper?

I prefer Kasper as well, it just looks better to me and looks less childish.

I prefer the C spelling. I know both spellings are legitimate on this one and have long histories, but changing Ks to Cs in perfectly good names and words was such a huge trend for so long. It makes things look cheap and common, like Krispy Kreme or Kwik Kopy. I’m not saying we should change all Ks to Cs, just that when there’s a choice, I’ll choose the C every time.
That being said, it used to be the height of trendiness to change Y to I (Brandi, Ricki, etc.), and a generation later the opposite was true. I wonder if words like “thicc” indicate a coming switch.

Kasper is good. I prefer the look of it, and while I've never heard of this friendly ghost, everyone else seems to have, so I'd go with the K spelling, especially if you like it best.

I think that if Kasper is your favourite spelling, you should go with that one. They're both standard spellings, and I wouldn't bat an eye at either. I do prefer Casper, but that's because I love the friendly ghost association. I just think you might regret not using your favourite spelling.

I like Casper better because it looks nicer to me. Kasper looks like it's leaning to the right somehow? I do agree it's less friendly ghost-ish. Kasper and Victor look fine as siblings to me fwiw.

The C looks slightly more familiar (and old-fashioned) to me, but I tend to prefer K (and that can come across as trendy or modern) in general.
C vs K doesn't really change much to me when it comes to Casper or Kasper, though. What would make more of a difference to me would be changing the E to an A (Caspar / Kaspar), because that way it looks less like a noun (as if Casper is someone who casps - even though that's not a word...it vaguely reminds me of gasper/clasper/grasper or whisper).
I don't have a strong opinion on the name itself.
My great-grandmother's 2nd husband was a Casper, so old white men would be my 1st association with it...2nd association is the ghost...3rd association is Jasper, which is more common where I live and reminds me of stones, 1001 Dalmatians, or names like: Micah, Ezra, Carter, Jackson, Jesse.

I prefer Kasper but I've always preferred K spellings over C spellings. I thing when written down it look nicer (especially in script or cursive) and it also feels younger and less dated, also as you pointed out, less association with the Capser movie series
