I’ve been thinking about this name a lot lately, and when I checked the popularity charts it seems to be rising pretty fast. What are your thoughts on it?http://www.behindthename.com/pnl/87410

I love it. I love most names with the Lou- sound. It'd be on my list if we didn't love Eloise so much!

I like it a lot, and prefer it to Louisa. It's a mum name here though; it was top 50 from the 60s to the 90s, and is now lurking down in the 400s, so it's well past its peak, for the moment.

I knew one in school, and I think her friends called her wheezy as a nickname. I'm naf because it's not my style. Other than that, I think it's perfectly fine.

It's one of my least favorite names. The "weez" sound just makes my skin crawl.

I like it & consider it a classic name; and due to the Sesame Street (real life) adult character, I've always thought the name to be for anyone of either gender. I grew to learn Lou (of any spelling) to be male - yet I love to meet or learn of ladies that "wear it so well".

I had an aunt who was always called Lou. Her name was actually Louisa, but I didn't know that until I grew up. I'd say she"wore Lou well". :)

Its a wonderful short name (or even formal name for that matter) for a lady I now tend to consider the name - the aggregate - amidst numerous variations (including Lewis, Louisa, Lois, Lulu / Lu - etcetera) to be more feminine; but I'm happy for males (Louis, Lewis, Louise, or Louise) as well.
