I love it! Know someone with this name and it works well—strong, simple,’and a really positive meaning. I’d pair it with a common, short middle to produce good contrast.Dermot Adam
Dermot James
Dermot Brian
Dermot Lynn
Dermot Steven

I sort of find it hard to say, frankly.

It's a decent name. It feels like an older person's name to me, probably because the only Dermot I can think of atm is the late Dermot Graham, who played Father Ted.
I voted for the Diarmuid spelling, but Dermot is okay too.

My favorite is a tie between Diarmid and Diarmuid...is there a reason you prefer Diarmuid?Dermot seems to be the BtN favorite, but I don't know if I like it or not. It might remind me too much of Kermit.

It's the most familiar to me, probably because it's been the most popular version in Ireland for a while.

For some weird reason it makes me think of an otter. I literally have no idea why.

...do you follow hockey at all? Apparently there was a guy with the surname Dermott who played for the Erie Otters.

I’m not into hockey at all. That’s a weird coincidence. I was thinking more like a book or cartoon character with the name.

Maybe it's just the *ot part, plus similarity to Kermit?
...I did find a kids' book called "Little Dermot and the thirsty stones: and other Irish folk tales", but I have no idea if it includes an otter.

I don't hate it, but it sounds more like a brand name for a vacuum than a name for a real live person.
