Delta airlines, Delta Ohio (Colorado), river delta, delta dental insurance...
I'm not a fan of word names or place names and the above are my first thoughts, in order, that I think of when I hear Delta. I don't see it as usable at all, although, maybe for a pet?
Kay brings up another good point that I didn't connect myself. Alpha, Omega? Nothing really seems right with using it as a name
