Bland to the point of invisibility. Does not even have enough personality to be unpleasant, unlike Sharon for instance.

I'm surprised its popularity waned, to be honest, given how popular the similar-sounding Hannah is; nevertheless, Shannon is on its way to being dated. Its highest popularity was in my parents' generation, but as a 90s kid I've known quite a few Shannon my age. It's decent name, overall - and despite its unisex history, I'll admit I have a hard time seeing it on a male (every Shannon I've ever met has been female).

It's my name, so it's hard to judge. I disliked it as a kid, but don't mind it now. I guess I find it pleasantly dated. Kind of sporty (which I am) and upbeat (which I am probably not).

I like it. I used to think it was boring, but now I think it has a great combination of practical/down to earth and subtly romantic. I don't like it enough to use (if I wanted that ending I'd use Rhiannon), but I like seeing it.

I love it. It's got a 70s vibe, pagan, and seems ever-youthful to me despite obviously being dated. I'm okay with it as a guy name, but to me it's much cooler on women.

I prefer it more for a boy. I find it not only more suitable but also more refreshing. I mean it's okay for a girl but the several that I personally knew proved to be unpleasant and some even,well,"trashy" if I'm being completely honest. It made a bit wary I guess you could say. And I generally prefer it more for a guy, just the name alone even without any personal comnections attached.

It is dated. Not a fan and I would often get misheard as Shannon (my real name), so I find it annoying too. LOL

I like Irish river goddess association, but it isn’t a name I would use. Shannon has a romantic feel, but it definitely sounds better when said in some accents compared to others. There is a Southern accent that makes this name sound gorgeous.

It has a very butch sound to it. The Shannon I knew in high school had an overbearing personality and already dressed like the type of middle-aged woman who would "demand to see the manager". So not a positive association.

I enjoy river imagery and many Irish names (my gr grandfather was half Irish) but, sound-wise, Shannon doesn’t really draw me. I’m not up on statistics but, to me, it feels a bit dated. I was acquainted with one female bearer when I was in high school but have no strong impressions about the name.

Handsome on a boy. Kinda meh on a girl to me due to overuse. Feels Irish-y.
