[Opinions] triplet BA
Read a news story a few minutes ago about a woman in South Dakota who just had triplets. In the news because, despite having had two kids previously, she had no idea she was pregnant, and when she went into labor at 34 weeks, she assumed it was kidney stones. For triplets, they were pretty big too.
Their names:
Blaze
Gypsy
NikkiThe first two sound like horse names to me. Nikki sounds like a dumb cheerleader from the eighties. But at least not like a horse. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

Is Blaze a girl or boy? I think it’s okay for a boy, but Blaise would be better. Gypsy is just wrong. Isn’t it a racist slur in Europe? Nikki is okay as a nickname but it seems dated.

I can tolerate Nikki but the other two are pretty terrible. I’m shocked people are still naming their kids Gypsy, I thought it was more or less recognized as a slur by now.

it might not be ...I recently read a book called "Bury Me Standing, the Gypsies and Their Journey" and apparently they themselves call themselves Gypsies, even more so than they use the Romany/Roma term. I can understand why it would not be obvious that people shouldn't use Gypsy as a name.
I still think it makes a fairly good name for a horse.

Thanks for the reference, Roma people are a topic I’d like to know more about.
The definition here says it’s “sometimes pejorative” and I hear people treat it as a taboo word. A quick Wikipedia research didn’t really give definite answers. As a child, there was a mare named Gypsy in my riding school, but it’s definitely not great on a person, slur or not.

Gypsy is awful. Nikki is ugly and nicknamey. Blaze...is fine, but nothing I'd use.

Agree with Lovekids -- you just do not not know you are pregnant with triplets. That's absurd. I don't even believe women who say they didn't know they were having a single baby.Blaze would be fine if it were Blaise.Gypsy is just not done.Nikki would be sooo much better as Nicky, and short for Nicole or some other formal name.

My sister-in-law had triplets. She talked about how it always felt as if one was going to fall out of her womb. She was also huge oh, you could tell she was pregnant. There is no way she didn't know

I don't believe it either ...Especially not when the woman has already been pregnant in the past. You can be irregular, you can be overweight, but you cannot mistake a baby moving inside you for anything other than what it is. It does not feel like gas bubbles, it does not feel like a muscle twitch. And according the article I read, the triplets were all about four pounds each, very large for triplets. She didn't just feel nothing going on for 34 weeks and then suddenly started having contractions.
And I've never had a kidney stone but I know people who have, and they will tell you there's no mistaking one if you already know what they feel like.

First of all, good grief... how do you know know you’re pregnant with triplets?
Geez. I’ve had a singleton pregnancy and twins, and there is no freakin way I wouldn’t have been able to tell I was pregnant, any time. That baffles me.
Secondly... blech. All three are just, dumb.

Blaze = definitely a horse lol.
Gypsy = isn't this a bad word in Europe?
Nikki = yeah, dumb 80's cheerleader.

I think Blaze is a respectable name, I've heard it on a really nice kid so I warmed up to it a lot. Gypsy is interesting but a little too Hollywood, like Bodie or Lyric. Nikki is the odd one out, my opinion of it has gone up recently but it's just too old school.

I like Blaise (spelled like that, not Blaze) and I wouldn't have minded Nikki if it was short for Nicole or some other full name. Hate Gypsy.

Blaise and Blaze are so different that my brain doesn't even connect them. They sound the same but Blaze is a noun and Blaise is an old kind of name.

Blaze looks like a terrible variant of Blaise, Gypsy is a pejorative term for Romani people, and Nikki sounds like a 70s cheerleader.
