[Opinions] Sidney vs. Sean
Which one would you choose for a boy, and why? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Sean. I've only known female Sidneys. I know it's technically unisex, but the long e sound at the end feels very feminine to me. I don't think it's unusable, but I'd personally choose the more masculine name.

Sean is more masculine which is why I’d choose it. Sidney is unisex and a bit dorky (can I say that?).

Sidney. I only met females named Sydney, but I have met a family friend's husband named Sidney. Sidney started to grow on me, I like how flowy and long it sounds.

Sean. I don't really like it much, but Sidney/Sydney sounds like a girls' name now, and on a boy it's always sounded sneaky and conniving, like a used-car salesman from fifty years ago.

I like Sean because Sidney seems more feminine to me.

I guess Sean? It seems more timeless, Sidney seems dated, and isn't it moving towards becoming a feminine name?

Sidney. I just dislike the sound of Sean. Sidney is handsome, and I especially like Sid as a nickname.

Hi Billina !!!It is difficult...Both are old-favourites of mine but actually I would not choose them in real life nor for a character. Both are...boring. They are too basic and not tied to anything special in my mind.I prefer Sid (m, full name) and Sydney (unisex) to Sidney.I prefer many Scottish names to Sean / Séan.But If I have to choose one so... Sean.

I don't like either, but I'd choose Sidney, because it sounds more classic.

Sidney does less than nothing for me. Weak, dated, rhymes with kidney ... which leaves Sean. Also dated, but more recently, and a whole lot better. Not that I'd use it; but I wouldn't sympathise if I heard of a young one.

Sean!I immediately think 'vicious' (Sid Vicious) and 'mean kid' (probably Toy Story's influence) when I hear Sidney.
