What do you think of Penelope?
It's a name I like but it's a bit awkward where I'm living, so I probably wouldn't use it as a first name. I started thinking about it as a middle name though.
Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

This name has recently been on my mind again, I like it, I asked my husband and he says its a pig name.
Its getting more popular in my area, and I think it's going to be very popular in the 2019 USA data. It's a pretty name and fits into a lot of current trends.

I liked it for awhile but its shine has worn off for me. I just can’t imagine myself with a daughter named Penelope. I prefer Penrose or Persephone now.

It's a name from Greek mythology that somehow became semi-mainstream, so despite people cracking jokes about how something's "all Greek to me" nobody really struggles with the pronunciation of Penelope because it's familiar. (Compare to the similar Persephone - with the last syllable said like an actual "phone" by those not in the know - and Hermione, which so many people struggled with before the Harry Potter movies came out and set the record straight.)
Penelope is apparently in the Top 30 names in the U.S. right now (when does 2019 data come out?), and is surging in Australia, Canada, and the U.K.; so it's more popular now that it has ever been. Although I have yet to come across any little girls or babies with this name, so I'm nowhere near tired of it (meanwhile there are way too many Emmas, Emilys, Olivias, Sophias, and Isabellas).
It used to be one of my favorite names, and I'd still consider it. However, I'd favor the Nell nickname, and then maybe Pen, over Penny because I don't like Penny (it's the lowest form of U.S. currency).

I think Penelope is just lovely. :)

I like it very much; when our daughter was born, she had long red hair like DH's cousin Penelope (known as Penny) and I suggested naming her Penelope as well. I'd overlooked the fact that the cousins didn't get along and never had. So, no luck there. I also like Nell as a nn - it seems to need the extra -l.

I don't like it because I hate the "pee" sound at the end. Because I'm immature. WHEE HEEE I'm immature WHEE HEEE.

I like it, though not enough to use it. I think it's cute though. I love the nickname Penny even more.
