[Opinions] Catherine or Caitlin?
If you couldn't change spellings which one and why?If you could, which one and why? What's your favorite spelling of Catherine and Caitlin? If Caitlin had never been super trendy and all the alternate spellings didn't exist would your choice be different?

CatherineCatherine, hands down. I'm so sick of Caitlin. Plus, Catherine sounds like the name of a powerful queen who will crush her enemies. It just has this historical, ancient feel to it that Caitlin doesn't possess.I do prefer the spelling Katelynn, but Catherine still wins without trying.I don't think so. Caitlin, especially with this spelling, feels very Irish to me. I feel no connection to Ireland. Catherine still easily wins.

I pick Caitlin!Catherine (with a C, anyway - I love Katharine with a K) just seems quite prim, and I lean more towards names that give off a less serious vibe - like Caitlin! My favorite spellings of it are Caitlin, Kaitlyn, and Katelyn.

Catherine, it’s far more classic and timeless than Caitlin. If I could change the spelling then I’d go with Katherine, that’s my fave. I’d still go with Katherine, given the choice.

Definitely Catherine. I don’t like Caitlin at all, it feels really 90s.

I would stay with Catherine rather than Caitlin.
I prefer Katharine to Catherine, but it's not such a big deal.
I disliked Caitlin long before it trended and morphed into multiple spellings.

CaitlinCaitlin for life! One of my best friends when I was younger was named Caitlin, same spelling and everything. I despise the name Catherine, and alternate spellings don't make it any better.

I prefer Catherine, with all things being as they are. If Caitlin had never become trendy and misspelled? Hmm. Well, I like the pronunciation Kate-lin. I don't like the actual Irish pronunciation at all. Assuming Caitlin were pronounced like Kate-lin, it's possible I'd like it more than Catherine, because what I really love about Katherine/Catherine is Kate, and Caitlin is closer. I just don't know, though. Right now, I consider Caitlin a guilty pleasure. I find it hard to get past so many Faux-Irish Americans bleating on about how very "Gaelic" it is and how very Irish they are.

If Caitlin and its spelling variations hadn't become so popular, I would choose Caitlin, because Catherine and Katherine have always been popular, and then there was Cathleen and Kathleen, and most Cathleens and Kathleens were Cathys or Kathys, and you never knew if they were Catherine/Katherine or Cathleen/Kathleen anyway. But Caitlin and its spelling variations did become popular, so at this point I would choose Catherine, since I prefer it to Caitlin. My favorite spellings are Caitlin and Katherine. IRL, if I weren't doing this at your behest, I would always choose Katherine.

Husband and I differ on this.I like Catherine and it maybe helps that my favourite aunt is Catherine and this is the spelling of her name. I can’t stand Caitlin as I’ve never liked a person called Caitlin I’ve met.Husband prefers Caitlin as his ex sister in law was called Catherine but spelt Kathryn and they never got on.

Of these two, I’d choose Catherine. I’ve always loved it but I may prefer Katherine, Katharine or Kathryn (even if Kathryn almost feels like a different name. I know that some people might consider it a horrible spelling but I actually prefer Katelyn or Kaitlyn. Over all, I just seem to prefer versions of this name spelled with a K. Which is probably because my own name is Katrine.Trends and alternate spellings wouldn’t change my opinion. I’d still choose Catherine over Caitlin.

CatherineCatherine, definitely. Although I prefer the spelling of Katherine, I absolutely despise the spelling of Caitlin. The name just looks better with a 'K'
Catherine is at least tolerable to look at and is just a better name overall.

CatherineI think I might slightly prefer Katherine and I like Kathryn too.I really dislike Caitlin. I don't think my choice would have been different but I probably wouldn't dislike Caitlin the way that I do. I don't think I would ever really like it though. I would still prefer Catherine and even Kathleen to it.

Catherine hands down. Caitlin feels a bit... inconsistent? I actually prefer Cathleen or Kathleen at this point.

Hi !!!All the forms of the name are ok but I doubt I would use any in real life. I prefer Catherine because it is classic with many famous and literarian bearers.
