[Opinions] May
I have been thinking about May a lot lately.I like the Chinese/Japanese Mei and also May and Mae.Which spelling would you choose? And do you think it is tacky? I heard that in the UK people find May combo names such as Ellie-May tacky. Is it true and what about May by itself?Do they spellings give you different images?

I adore the name May. It was my first name love and I'd still use it in a heartbeat. I do think it's a bit tacky when tacked on to another name but on it's own, it's lovely.Different spellings do give me different imagery. May is sweet and soft pink. Mae is a bit spunkier. Mei is nice and makes me think of silk.

I love just May. I would use it myself. The actors Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola have a daughter named May, and I remember watching an interview with her where she mentioned her daughter by name and thinking, "I really like that." Just simple and classy.I like May over Mae, but I like Mae as well.

I prefer Mae, but don't like double barreled names

I prefer Mae over May. Mei I find very pretty but definitely fitting only of someone Asian. A double name is no more tacky than adding a second, third middle name.

I like all of the spellings, though Mae is my favorite. I am a fan of double names, especially ones with Mae, as it goes well with many other names. I like Adelia Mae, Cecelia Mae, Josie Mae, and Clara Mae (which, incidentally, is also the name of a favorite singer of mine). I don’t think it’s tacky but I understand how some might not like it as a double name.
