[Games] Georgian NTNB - Round 1
Georgian as in the time period, rather than the country or the state! I’ve written all the rounds in advance so hopefully I won’t end up forgetting about it halfway through - possibly there were better uses for my free time, but here we are ¯\_(ツ)_/¯The year is 1782; George III is KingThe Cuthbert Family
DH [49]: Edward Andrew Christopher Cuthbert, 3rd Earl of Oakheart
DW [43]: Eleanor Frances Cuthbert “Nell”, 3rd Countess of Oakheart, née SouthwellDS1 [19]:
DD1 [17]:
DS2 [15]:Lord Cuthbert is a military man through and through with thirty years of service under his belt - however, the severity of his recently-sustained injuries have led him to retire from army life and take a renewed interest in his country estate. Said estate has been faithfully managed for twenty-five years by his wife Nell, a quiet, dutiful third daughter of a viscount who is equal parts pleased and apprehensive to spend more than a month at a time with her husband. Lord Cuthbert’s retirement should theoretically allow him to spend more time with his three children as well. However, his eldest son and heir spends most of his time in London, a hanger-on to the scandalous young Prince George; his only daughter has thus far refused all suggestions of marriage and instead devotes herself to the study of Greek and Latin; and his youngest son is often at sea, a midshipman in His Majesty’s Navy.DS1’s first name is also Edward, but he goes by either a nickname or one of his middle names. His first middle name is ranked 80-100 on this list ( https://www.britishbabynames.com/blog/2018/09/top-200-most-popular-names-in-england-and-wales-in-1840-part-2.html ) and his second middle name is either his mother’s maiden name or honours her father, Vincent Peter.
DD1’s first name is a flower, her first middle name is either Eleanor or Frances, and her second middle name is Biblical.
DS2’s first name is ranked 1-20 on the above list, his first middle name is one of his father’s, and his second middle name is shared with a pre-1800 First Lord of the Admiralty ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Lord_of_the_Admiralty#First_Lords_of_the_Admiralty_of_Great_Britain_(1709%E2%80%931801) )
The Jarvis Family
DH [32]: Peter Jonathan Jarvis
DW [33]: Marguerite Lucille Jarvis “Margot”, née DesrosiersDD1 [10]:
DD2 [6]:
DD3 [3]:The Jarvis family are new money, their not-inconsiderable fortune having been made thanks to Peter’s sharp mind and dedication to his career as a merchant (and, some would say, his relative lack of scruples compared to certain competitors). His wife of 12 years, Margot, is a lowborn woman from France, but she is determined to see her three daughters succeed in high society - a world which has been largely closed to her - through Peter’s wealth and her bloody-mindedness. Their eldest daughter is already a pretty little thing, and they hope she will grow up into a great beauty, on whose metaphorical coattails her sisters can ride if necessary. All three daughters have virtue first names. DD1’s middle name is French and honours her mother, and DD2 and DD3’s middle names are long and French, but not the feminine form of another name ( https://www.behindthename.com/names/browse.php?type_gender=1&operator_gender=is&value_gender%5B%5D=feminine&type_usage=1&operator_usage=is&value_usage%5B%5D=french&type_length=1&operator_length=more&value_length%5B%5D=7&type_relationship=1&operator_relationship=isnot&value_relationship%5B%5D=gender ).The Irvine Family
DH [19]: Robert Reginald Angus Irvine
DW [18]: Agnes Irvine, née MacinnesDS1 [nb]:Robert Irvine is not too pleased that he has been forced to settle down. The fourth son of the Laird of Achnaford, he had rather enjoyed his life of hunting on his father’s Highland estate during the day and drinking and chasing after the women of the town at night. Several months ago, however, one such chase was marched up to the Laird’s manor by her father to announce her pregnancy by Robert. A week later, he found himself standing at the altar with Agnes Macinnes, the baker’s daughter, resigned to a future of handling his father’s correspondence. Agnes herself, more than a little overwhelmed by her sudden change of station, has mostly dedicated herself to her pregnancy and her son, a noisy, healthy infant whom Robert takes pains to avoid.Their son’s first name is ranked 80-100 on this list ( https://www.britishbabynames.com/blog/2013/01/top-100-names-in-scotland-1900.html ), his first middle name honours Robert’s father (Frederick William Duncan), and his second middle name is Scottish Gaelic."Do you not find it happens very often, that you are as gay as Garrick at dinner and then by supper-time you wonder why God made the world?"
