It definitely has an exotic charm, though I don’t know if I could use it myself.Zippy is alright, though a tad on the childish side.

I think it’s pretty cool, but almost completely unusable and Zippy should never be used for the nickname.

I love Zipporah. I don't think I'd give it a nickname.

Zipporah has presence. It isn't a name that fades quietly away, but it isn't brash or showoffy. I would imagine Zipporah to have strength of character and gumption. I met a little girl named Zipporah not too long ago. She had lovely eyes framed by curly eyelashes. -What do you think of Zippy as a nickname?
I hate Zippy. Orah or Zee would be better.

It's memorable, and I like it for that.Zippy sounds a bit cartoony, but I guess it works.I imagine Zipporah as a knowledgeable and helpful lady in her late 50s~early 60s.

I don't like the P sound but it's an alright name. Zippy is a cute nickname. Everyone I know with this name is Orthodox Jewish or grew up Orthodox.

ZIP-ə-rə is cheery and eccentric, zi-PAWR-ə is heavy and tired. I don't particularly like either, but the former has more charm. Zippy is very childish and enthusiastic to an annoying degree. Zipporah "Zippy" would be a chirpy secretary who always agrees with anyone she's talking to. She'd have dark olive skin, curly black hair, warm espresso-coloured eyes, and laugh lines.

I remember this was my junior high school friend's favourite name. Ahh, good memories. I was so disappointed when I heard she named her daughter "Caydance" instead of Zipporah....I really like this name. It's fun, how can you not like the Zip in Zipporah? Zippy is all right as a nickname; a bit infantile, but I suppose Zip or Zippo is hardly much better. I imagine a Zipporah as being very determined and stubborn, but I'm almost positive that I'm being influenced by the character of Zipporah on The Prince of Egypt with that (although that was Tzipporah).
