It's a very nice name, and follows a pattern similar to other names I like (Serena, Sabrina, etc.). I will say, though, that this name is very attached to the singer Selena Quintanilla, especially among the Hispanic / Latino community. She's usually the first association with the name.

I think it's a wonderful and meaningful meaning, perfectly adapt to a modern times child, as well as to a fictional character. Yet I prefer the variant Selene.-it sounds more particular.

Better than Luna, for sure; looking at sound rather than meaning, I much prefer Serena.
