[Opinions] Iona
Do you like Iona? How do you pronounce it?I like it as EYE-o-na but I don't really like eye-O-na. Do you know what the correct Scottish pronunciation is?Kind of hoping for EYE-on-na :PDo you prefer Iona or Isla (EYE-la)?

I’m pretty sure eye-OH-na is the Scottish pronunciation. It’s better than Isla, but sounds a bit too much like “I own a”.

Eye own a, I prefer Isla out of the 2

The only person I've known with this name pronounced it ee-OH-na.

I've never met one, but I once knew an Ione who pronounced it eye-OH-nee and I suppose Iona would be the same but with an -a.I far prefer both of them to flimsy, trendoid Isla.

I love it. I do put the emphasis on the second syllable. I like both, but I'd choose Iona.

eye-Oh-na is how it's pronounced in my region.I prefer Iona, Isla Pronounced as Eye-la makes me think of a loose eyelash on someone's blouse. Though I don't like it said as Iz-lah either.. I just don't like it regularless. Pronunciations very region to region I've never been one to be a stickler about them myself. Even in the same region often people pronounce things differently it's just a dialect thing. For instance in my area people pronounce Eva all three ways.. and it's not necessarily because one group is wrong that's just how it happens sometimes. Name pronunciations are like language as a whole it involves over time.
