[Opinions] Alyssa
This name is super popular for my generation (2000s), and I've met many girls named Alyssa. But, I still like the name, and it's variant Alissa. It's one of my favorites, and having a very special person in my life named Alyssa makes it feel warm to my heart. What are your opinions on the name Alyssa? Also, do you prefer the spelling Alyssa or Alissa?
I also love the name Melissa. What are your thoughts on the name Melissa, too?

I definitely prefer Alyssa! It sounds much more sweet sounding and gentle. I don’t really like Melissa, though.

Alyssa is pretty. Melissa is too. I think they'd make beautiful middle names. I prefer Alyssa. Elissa is the "issa" spelling I'd pick - Alissa seems flimsy.

To me, it's more of a 70s name. It seems unnecessarily fussed-up; I would use Alice or Alison, but not Alicia or Alyssa. I do prefer Alyssa to Alissa, only because alyssum is a pleasant plant.Melissa is all sparkly pink with frills; too sweet by far. I greatly prefer Deborah.

I like all of these. Alyssa drops in and out of my top 20 - I don’t think I would use it ultimately but I enjoy it. Alissa feels unfinished to me but I can see why it would appeal to others.I adore Melissa (my childhood best friend was Mellisa but I’m not such a fan of that spelling). Sadly it’s been nixed from the list by my wife!

I like Alyssa. First heard it in the 80s when my neighbor named her baby Alyssa. It was unheard-of, but never seemed trendy or made-up to me.
It's prettier than any short form of Elizabeth ever. I guess it's supposed to be based on Alicia, but to me, it seems as much based on Elise.
Just a really pretty, modest name. I admire it on other people - I don't think I'd use it myself.
I think Alyssa looks better than Alissa. The -issa has a chillier feeling, less flower-y.
I love Melissa as well. Overused, but gorgeous and sweet. Not as prissy as other -issa names.

Boring but not bad. Alissa is okay but reminds me of Alissa Violet. I prefer Alyssa.
