What do you think of Miranda? I was watching a version of The Tempest last night. Do you think it's too common or basic?

I like it, I think it's very pretty and sophisticated.
My biggest memory with this name is finding out a girl I went to school with, who we all knew as Mindy, was actually a Miranda - and I learned this in our 20s lol She's definitely more of a Mindy than a Miranda, but that could just because I've just always known her as a Mindy!

Neither common nor basic, at least where I live. I've only known one Miranda, who has never had a nn. My problem with it is that it shortens so naturally to Randy, which in British and South African English is not what anyone would want to be known as. So, though I like it very much indeed, I'd only ever consider it as a mn.
