I don’t know.l. I don’t think it would work. Ash could work as a nickname for Ashton or Asher. Or a nickname for Asier could be Asa.

I'm usually open-minded about nicknames, but this one I don't know...It sounds more like their "English name" than nickname.
I think 'Asi' would be the intuitive choice.

I don't see why it would, seeing as Asier doesn't have a sh sound.
