Cypress makes me think of the 90s band, Cypress Hill, a group of thugs into heavy drug use and violence. I do like the tree association though. I met a little boy named Banyon last weekend, that's a nice male tree name too.

Sawyer is very strongly associated with the tv show Lost right now, which turns me off. I think before that show I just found this name too surnamey.
