Not dated, classic. If it can jump generations and still look good its classic. Know one 40 something, and one fourth grader with this name and suits both.

I’ve always liked the name Melissa. I do think that it’s dated, but that doesn’t bother me. I can’t decide whether I prefer Melissa or Alyssa.

Its very pretty, but it has mean girl vibes. And yes, I think its dated. I slightly prefer Alyssa.

it's fine. Dated but fine. Kind of a yawn but not bad or anything. I don't actively like or dislike it. Of the -issa names I most lean towards Marissa, Nerissa and Clarissa

It's not in fashion anymore, but the sound isn't out of style. I always liked it and would have liked to be named Melissa so long as I was never called Missy.

I'd be surprised to meet a young Melissa; more surprised to meet a young Deborah, but the meaning is the same and Deborah is much less frilly.
