[Opinions] Claire, Clare, Clara, Clarice, Clarissa

Which would you use if you had to? Claire, Clare, Clara, Clarice, Clarissa? (Clarisse is also fine, but rarely mentioned.)

Oh, most definitely Clara! It's a longtime favorite of mine, and, in my opinion, has a certain charm that the other names don't. Though the other names are nice too, just not my style.

Clara definitely. I love Clara.Clara > Clarissa > Clarisse > Claire > Clare > ClariceI like Clarissa and Clarisse about the same, but the Clarice spelling looks clunky and elderly to me.Claire and Clare are fine but so boring.

I would use Clare, even if I didn't have to.Claire is French and I'm not. Clara is OK in German but once again that's not me. Clarice and Clarissa are frillied up unnecessarily; Clarice seems the most dated of them all, at least where I am.

I think perhaps we have talked about this before but Anneza do you think that we should only use names of our place of origin?

Do what you like. I don't like using names from outside my tradition, but plenty of people do it every day and why not? If you ask for my opinion, that is what you get: not me setting myself up as Lawgiver to the Universe.

Out of all of these I would choose Clara. Maybe Clarissa but meh.Claire is pretty as a spelling but kinda stale in sound Clare isn’t much better. Clarice is fine but I never liked it. Cool on somebody else.

I met a toddler Claire a few months ago. It's fine but feels very blase to me. Just fine. Nothing exciting. Clara would have impressed me more. I think there are several one syllable girl names I'll go to first before I arrive to Claire.

None of those would probably be useable for me in reality, as I have a niece named Clara. Clara & Claire/Clare are especially out.
Maybe Clarice. But if I could, either Clara or Claire, for sure.

It's popular in my country as well, but I'd use Claire, honestly. It has that exotic vibe while being easily recognisable.

Clara, although my partner isn't crazy about it (it's very popular where they are from). Maybe we could compromise on Clare.
