Another round, another eventful five years for the Northwood clan. Marquess Renjiro dies of old age at seventy-five, before he can officially marry High Priestess Amoona. As his adopted heir, Asif immediately inherits the title of Marquess. Now, High Priestess Amoona has suddenly died, forcing the 15 year old marquess to rule entirely on his own. After years of waiting, Amos and Nova finally marry! Verona and Haniya separate, and Verona is now married to Maiandra Greywulf, a mathematician with whom she has been working on a secret astrophysics project for the royals. Taking her time has proved worth it, and Ione has gotten engaged to her beau and best friend D'Arcy. The reclusive Basia Northwood dies of a mysterious illness at the age of 32, having never married or even been in a relationship. Losing his sister is hard on Audric, and he and Jai separate for a few months, but decide to put in the work to stay together. Now, they've adopted two more young children: daughters named Msando and Nannu. In more tragedy, Gianina Northwood drowns in a mysterious accident mere months before her wedding to Baron Astrophel was planned. The unexpected and tragic death of her twin takes a huge mental toll on Esmara, and she suddenly breaks things off with Queen Ankhara, running off to reinvent herself as a singer instead of a socialite. Claude gets engaged to a young woman named Bryda Dorwine, and she's expecting a baby boy they're naming Martyn. On Ezra's side of the family, Lira and Imogene have gotten engaged! But that is the extent of the family's joy these years. At twenty-one years old, Justus' long-term girlfriend Annika finds out she's pregnant with twins. Her secret lover Emperor Miroslav is more than excited, thinking she'll finally leave Justus to raise their children together. That is, until Annika tells him they aren't his - they're Justus'. In a jealous rage, Emperor Miroslav the Great hires a hitman and orders Justus Northwood killed. Hearbroken and disgusted by her lover's true colors, Annika promptly breaks things off with him, never speaking to him again. Revecca's new husband Emrys passes away, leaving her a devastated widow once again.
