Cassidy was never used much as a boy's name and pretty much started out for girls. I think it's obnoxious without really being able to pinpoint why. It's about on the same obnoxious level as Chelsea and Kaylee.
Sidney definitely can still work as a boy's name, as it was pretty popular for boys for a long time. However, it's very dated and to me always has a sneaky, slippery sound. I picture an old-time Hollywood producer who sleeps with the young, dumb starlets, cheats his colleagues and can probably order someone's kneecaps broken by his mob connections.Shannon got more use on boys than Cassidy, but it too feels very dated on boys. It's dated on girls too but not so much. On girls it seems to have been ahead of the Irish-surnames trend, and if it hadn't gotten popular so early, it would now be very much in style.

Shannon - no, it's a gal name to me and the thought of a guy Shannon is like the thought of a guy Heather. I prefer Shane for a boy
Sidney - a good name for a guy.
Cassidy - it's unisex, fine for a guy, if you don't mind occasional gender confusion because people are used to gal Cassidys

Sidney is a masculine name so no worries there. Shannon also okay on a boy. Cassidy is still just a surname which generally I dislike as given names on anyone.

I like Shannon. I do think it’s soft and it could be hard for a boy who doesn’t appear super masculine to carry.I love Sidney. I feel like it is one of the true unisex names that really works great for both. I’d use it.Cassidy doesn’t really do it for me. I see it as all girl or surname. I do know a man who goes by Cassidy, but it’s his surname.

I like Shannon for a boy, and I think it works well as a middle name, too. I think Megan Fox's son is named Noah Shannon, which is a combo I adore. Not so crazy about Sidney. It reminds me of Sid Vicious.Cassidy is fine, but it's more of a girl name to me. I went to school with a girl Kassidy, so that's why.

Shannon on a boy is soft and manly in a delicate way. Better on a girl by miles. But I had a male sim named Shannon and it fit him well. I like the spelling Shannen for a girl.Sidney is okay. I used to like Sydney a whole lot for a girl like 2 years ago but now I’m kinda over it. Still a nice name though.Cassidy is also a nice unisex name. But the first ever Cassidy I knew was a girl. It also reminds me of David Cassidy, which isn’t a bad thing.
