One of my least favourite names. I think it sounds and looks very unattractive. It also reminds me of one of the worst movies I've seen.

Your terrible Muriel, is just repeating in my head

I adore Muriel. It has watery mystique and antique charm.

One of the lovliest ladies I ever knew was called Muriel so I have a real soft spot for the name. I would consider it as a middle but probably not a first name

Muriel has been a new favorite of mine lately. Honestly, it’s kinda frumpy, but it’s friendly and bold. Standing out in a way it could way a good name for a girl no matter what. Kind of like Ruth, I’ll copy and paste what I said in the names comment section a few days ago “This is a very underrated name. I find Muriel to be shiny, aquatic, and mature. Absolutely brilliant in the way it stands out compared to other girl names.”

It has such a lovely meaning but to me it’s a frumpy old lady name, nothing more, and not cute enough to be ready for a comeback.

The meaning is lovely, but the sound is not the best and the only association I have with it is the movie Muriel’s Wedding. I prefer Mariel.

Don't like it at all

I wish I liked it more. It's a family name with good associations, and I knew a lovely Muriel at school. But that 'mew' sound is fine from a cat but not on a person. I'd only ever use it as a mn; as a fn I much prefer the similar Mariel.

It's become one of my favourites. It's such a beautiful jewel-toned name, kinda elfin, kinda Edwardian; part diner waitress, part poet. A winner in my books!
