What would you think if you met kids named these?

All I can think of are the Salem Witch trials with this, so I would assume the parents were like old-school Quakers or really, really, wanted to make a statement.

I would think that they had been named after their parents' childhood pets.

Poor kids

That’s awfully Puritan. Cotton makes me think of Cotton Mather and Goody makes me think of the Goodwife title abbreviation and makes me uncomfortable a bit. Goodness isn’t specific enough to make a useable virtue name idk.

Ugh, Cotton reminds me of the terrible father from King of the Hill. Also plantations. They both sound very hillbilly.

Cotton Mather springs to mind when paired with Goody, which comes from Goodwife. It annoyed me when the show "Wednesday" named an ancestor Goody Addams. It would be like having the first name Mrs. On its own, Goody makes me think of a goody-goody two shoes, and Cotton makes me think of fabric, fabric softener, and laundry.

About Wednesday, I think the fact that it's historically inappropriate just means it's more of an Addams Family name. Missus wouldn't be that weird next to Itt and Lumpy.

I'd think their parents were none too bright. None too bright people who had read "The Crucible" but didn't realize that Goody just means Mrs.
Also, together the names sound like dogs. Or like things in a drugstore.

I would sincerely hope that those were just nicknames and not their actual names as anyone would.
