[Opinions] Makayla
Inspired by another recent post!It made me realize that I don’t really hear of the name Makayla anymore so I looked into its popularity. It peaked at #37 in the US in 2008 and now sits at #393. Mikayla is #615 and Michaela is #583. Makenna and Mckenna sit at #398 and #290 currently. Even though they’re in the same ballpark popularity wise, I feel like I come across Mckenna’s way more often than Makayla’s.So…Is it the same for you? And what do you think of Mckenna & Makayla?

I've known more people named Michaela than any of the others listed. (I'm including Mikaela and Micaela, as both seem more closely related to Michaela than other variants.)The Mikayla / Makayla variation seems to have been influenced by the popularity of the name Kayla. I don't encounter the name too often, honestly, though the variations I've encounter are all over the place. I don't really care for names related to our sounding like Kayla, though I think Michaela is fine.
Mckenna / Makenna / McKenna is a different story entirely. I'm certain I met a Mckenna or two at some point, but exactly when escapes me. I seem to recall thinking that, while trendy for a moment, that trend must have been more regionally situated because I encountered it so infrequently compared to how popular I was told it was.I really don't care for McKenna or any of its variants. It think that name will be remembered as a flash-in-the-pan of popularity.

I've never met a McKenna, Makayla, Michaela, Mikayla, etc. They're all quite ghastly.mee-ka-EL-a would be pretty.

I haven't meet anyone named Mckenna and Makenna, actually. I feel like I've heard of more girls named Makayla and Mikayla (and various spellings) though. I'm kind of not surprised that it that Makayla isn't as popular anymore, I feel that within the last decade or so that many girls were given that name. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of Mckenna or Makenna. I don't like names starting with "Mc" at all and the alternate spellings starting with "Ma" don't look quite right to me.I'm not a fan of the "Makayla" spelling. I've seen "Mckayla", which I think doesn't look very nice. I prefer Mikaela, then Mikayla and lastly Michaela. Though my favourite feminine form of Michael is Micheline, Michelina and Michalina.

I've never met a Mckenna, but I've met multiple girls named Makayla (and variants). I hate both.Micaela, however, is lovely.

I’ve definitely met more people called Makayla (all spelling variants) over McKenna; here, Makayla is more common (well, among my age group, lol). Anyways, I think that Makayla is an absolutely gorgeous name; I’ve always loved the sound of it, and don’t understand popularity died. I also love Makenna, with this spelling only; I don’t like “Mc” first names at all. Makenna and Makayla might make good names for twin sisters, if sound similarity isn’t an issue.

I like Mikaela and Makena. I can also get behind Makenna.I'm not a fan of how Mack looks written down so I dislike Mackenna and MacKenna as well as Mackenzie and MacKenzie. I'm fine with McKenzie.I like how you could use Mika as a nickname for Mikaela.Michaela, Makayla, Mikayla all don't look appealing to me.

I see a lot of high-school and middle-school age Makaylas of various spellings, what with graduation announcements and school honor-roll listings in the paper. It definitely doesn't seem to be as popular as it was twelve or so years ago, but I'm surprised it's as far down as it is now.
It's our daughter's middle name. My husband suggested it, having seen it someplace. I liked it too. If I had it to do over I might suggest the Mikayla spelling, for no special reason. I don't care for Michaela, it just doesn't look as nice even though it's the original and closest to Michael, which it's a feminine form of. (My husband's mn is Michael, but that wasn't why he chose it.)

I actually prefer Mikayla as well, but Makayla is still nice :)I don’t like the look of Michaela either

I don’t think I’ve ever come across a McKenna or Makenna, but have seen/known multiple Michaelas of various spellings. It doesn’t seem to be around much anymore though.I like Makenna, Michaela (and Mackenzie). I’d probably rank them Michaela, (Mackenzie), Makenna.
