Some Italian variants you might like are Silvina, Selvina, Silvana, and Silvietta.

Sylvie is definitely fine as a full name, I should say. I've known a few Sylvies. Maybe it is common where I'm from because the French variations of names are more prevalent? It doesn't come across as a diminutive at all. I'm with Anneza, if you want to be Sylvie be Sylvie!

I would find both of them ridiculous. Sylvan is an adjective and Sylvester is, mostly, a surname. And Sylvia has existed happily enough for many centuries, and nobody has died of shock so far. Why create problems where none exist? You want to be Sylvie? Be Sylvie.

No, but Sylvie as a full name is lovely
I know a lady named Sylvana, but still prefer Sylvie as a full name

Do you like Sylva? Not Sylvester. Maybe Sylvan. It's a boy name to me but it fits the -an pattern of many 'boy' names that became unisex (Morgan, Jordan, etc) so I wouldn't be too surprised to see it on a girl. Sylvaine
Sylvette
Sylvenne
Sylvine
Sylviet
Sylviette
Sylvara
Sylvina

Sylvan could work. What about Sylvaine! Sylvester would be interesting. I can see why it appeals. And it's such a rare boy name I feel like it's hardly stepping on any toes to use. I guess it just doesn't do anything for me as a girls name.

sylvaine is rlly fresh and interesting to me! THANKS A LOT for recommending that!

Sylvester is not a girls' name. Never was, never should be. It's comical enough on a boy what with Stallone and Sylvester the Pussycat and the seventies disco singer.
Sylvan might just work but in the US it's the name of a for-profit test-preparedness academy.Sylvie is used as a full name in France and if you're that set on Sylvie just use it.

Sylvester I think would be an awful girls name, and I don’t really like it in general. Sylvan could work imo.
