Nick and Valentina were raised on the beach, Nick on his surfboard and Valentina in the lifeguard chair. The two were less than friendly during high school, always at each other's throats (though their friends all said they were destined for each other). Nick joined the Navy straight out of high school, and Valentina went to college to study deaf education. When the two were 25 and 24 respectively, they reconnected, found out they actually did like each other, and eventually were married.
