About a year ago, Rosy and Onyx decided that they wanted to adopt again, so along came little Shirley Alexandre. Born intersex but surgically "fixed" by their bio parents, Shirley was orphaned after an apparently freak accident where both were hit by lightning on an otherwise sunny day. Shirley always believed that they had been saved from their parents' continued abuse by some otherworldly force, and, although Rosy and Onyx don't know this particular fact yet, Bo, now going by they/xe pronouns, believes that xe is responsible for both the accident that killed Shirley's parents and the speed and ease at which xyr parents were able to adopt Shirley.
Shortly before Shirley got adopted into the family, Bo started dating their girlfriend, Elsa Tucholke, a well-known witch at their school. Upon discovering Bo's telekinetic abilities, Elsa knew that Bo would have a unique capability for the craft and began teaching xem about the occult. Together, their capabilities grew to a power unexpected by either. One day, Bo had come across the then seven year old Shirley with their parents screaming at the child about some minor indiscretion. Bo locked eyes with the little kid and felt an instant connection with them, knowing immediately that this child had been mutilated by their parents.
Storming to Elsa's, Bo knew what they had to do: they had to save the child. With the two working together, they crafted the lightning that killed Shirley's parents, ensuring that the child walked away unharmed. When the incident made the news, Bo made sure that xyr parents heard about it and used their newfound magical capabilities to open the doors wide open for Onyx and Rosy's swift adoption of Shirley, insisting that the child needed a loving and accepting home that would continue their rearing in a more neutral fashion. Sure enough, upon their arrival at their new home, Shirley recognized Bo and they became instantly inseparable.
