A spell shimmers in the air one morning when the Skyrise-Dragonfort family awaken, Madame Thisbe and Sir Lowen in shock as they watch their eldest rise from the ground on the hillside outside their home, bathed in smiling warmth and apparent joy. Despite Sir Lowen's attempt to rescue the child, their eldest's figure floats above their reach, his fingers skimming the bottom of the child's foot. Wrapped in magical light, the child transforms before them, from the gruff twelve year old boy who took after his father...
Into a beautiful twelve year old girl who looks exactly like her mother. Thisbe gasps and catches the child as she slowly falls back to the ground, looking happier than she has in all her twelve years of life. Blinking up at her family through her bushy red hair, the girl admits that she had sought out the magic herself, unsure how to proceed in life under the unhappy guise of a boy. Thisbe and Lowen grasp the girl in their embrace, simply happy that their child is well and okay and not overtaken by some malicious spell.
