It's a polite way to put that the name seems to me to be associated with a lower-class type of person without using the word trashy.

"Working class" and "low class" or "trashy" are VERY different things. "Working class" merely refers to a sector of society that has a particular income level and particular life philosophy. It's *not* a negative term.
If you want to say trashy, say trashy - don't borrow other terms which don't deserve that kind of usage.

Especially because you're dancing around the issue. You can phrase it however way you like, but your opinion is clear. The problem isn't the words you use, it's the intention behind them, and in this case, it's very obvious you think little of the name Jasmine or the people who use it. I'm not saying I've never called a name trashy, but just say it (perhaps with an acknowledgment that you're not trying to offend anyone), and move on. By going to such pains to act like you're not prejudiced, it just highlights the fact that you are even moreso.

I think it's beautiful. I know it has a 'stripper' reputation, but to me it's a lovely plant name in the tradition of Iris, Jessamy, Gardenia, etc. It's really high on my list.

I like it a lot, but I sometimes find it to be trashy, and could easily be interperted by others as such. I prefer it as a middle name.

I actually kind of liked it before I got into names. Now, all I can think about are the crazy, ridiculous made-up spellings it usually gets saddled with, and its ridiculous popularity. And, for me, those things tarnish a name. Which I guess is too bad, because it is kind of pretty.

In theory, I like it. Jasmine flowers are some of my favourites, and I like many other flower names, so it's fine.
Unfortunately, it's been massively overused. In my own age group it wasn't too bad, but it's become a name of the masses, and frankly I have met a large number of Jasmines born into "trashy" or otherwise unsavoury families. That kind of spoils its appeal for me. If it dropped back out of the top 100 in my country I might consider it.

I love the name Jasmine! I think it's gorgeous, feminine, and not too overly popular (like some other names). I have a great association with it, and have always picture a sweet, friendly, girl-girl. I love it either as a FN or a MN...very pretty!

Jasmine is a gp of mine. I even like its kre8tive spellings and knockoffs, like Jazzmyn and Jazlyn. I don't know any Jasmines, so the name holds no real negative connotations for me.
