I've never liked it, sorry. It reminds me of a trendy, soap-opera / romance novel name.

But I love Brendan. Now there's a name with history. (See: Brendan the Navigator at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Brendan)

I've never liked the name much,
it's not really my style
but I love the name Brennan.. which is
somewhat close, but more unique

To me both Brandon and Brendan have that same feel. Trendy, soap-opera-like, not very dignified. Sorry.

Did you read the link? It might change your mind. Some people think he reached America in the sixth century, hundreds of years before The Vikings, the Chinese or Columbus.

I adore it, along with Brendan / Brennan and other similar names.

I dont know why you find it dated, in the US, its lost popularity yes, but it is still in the top 30.

I wouldn't say "dated", since it's still pretty popular in the U.S., but it was definitely used a lot in the 80's and 90's. But honestly, I only known one Brandon, he's my cousin and he's turning 20 this year. I've never known anyone else with the name, but I've met quite a few Brendan's.

I don't think it's dated. Maybe that's because of my age (35) -- I mean, it sounds like someone no older than I am, but I don't think it sounds old on a kid named today. I like it. It's very manly but not overbearing-seeming. (I don't care for Brendan, though - that has "soap opera-iness" for me.)
