I love it, however I'm so tired of parents thinking it means descendant of the challenger.

It's not my favorite but it has grown on me. A friend has a one year old daughter Delaney. Older sister is Mackenzie.

I can really only think surname when I hear this, but that could be because I very much appreciate an author with that last name.

It's alright. I like the sound of it. I'm just a little troubled by the fact that it's a more common surname. I worked with a Dr. J. Delaney who was annoyed by people assuming she was asking to be addressed by her first name. But mostly, for a girl I'd have to ask myself what she'd do if she grew up and married a guy with last name Delaney, and wanted to share his family name. - chazda

I like the name Delaney. Some people think it is too trendy or not feminine enough, but I think it is unique. It is cute yet it can grow with the child. My husband and I considered it for our daughter. We like the name/nickname Laney. What middle names are you thinking about using? Would you call her Laney?

I rather like it because it's Irish but I can't decide weather I like it better for a boy or a girl! My mom surprised me a couple months ago by saying she thought it was rather pretty for a girl. I'm still nor sure, in general (I don't know why) I dislike most D names for girls.
