I've been trying to find a name for one of my male protagonists for the past... ever. He was originally called Howl, because I was fifteen when I named him and he was initially inspired by the titular character of the novel Howl's Moving Castle. I feel like the name's too unique to steal, though, so I've been trying to come up with something else.

Here's a brief description of my character: He's twenty-two for the majority of the novel. He's tall with brown eyes and straight, longish, lightning-colored hair that he rarely tends to, so it kind of shoots out oddly. He's also got bright white, feathery wings. He's extremely friendly, flirtatious (but he doesn't mean to be), cocky, and a workaholic (he's an astronaut). He's also got a bit of a Peter Pan complex.

I've considered Ariel, Rune, and Hai, but none have worked. BUT, since he's also partially inspired by Phineas/Finny from John Knowles's novel A Separate Peace, I've very recently been considering changing his name to Finn, or perhaps Phin, just to put a new spin on it. I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier.

Does Finn/Phin sound like a good name? Or do any of the others? Or should I just keep his name Howl? Or is there a new name you think would suit him?

I'm SO grateful to whoever took the time to read this. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
