I need a pen name to publish short stories under (and maybe, someday, hopefully a novel). I have a surname that's difficult to spell and pronounce and I'd also rather not be associated with my writing because much of it is quite personal.

I'm planning on using the first name Mary because it has special significance to me, but I'm having trouble coming up with a surname for it. Ideally the name would be easy to pronounce and spell, sound good with Mary, and not already be associated with someone. A lot of surnames I've considered sound a bit dull and unmemorable next to Mary. I definitely don't want my name to be forgettable!

Any suggestions?
