ETA: Texas info, Re: 'Most Popular Baby Names by State' list
in reply to a message by Lily
Whoo-hoo! This is always as interesting to me than the national list, if not more so. Off to see what the rest of the Lone Star State has been up too.....ETA: The boy Top 10 differs from the national rankings far more than the girls', although the girls' list does feature both Sophia and Sofia. Yikes. As usual, the top 10 contains Spanish names, but many of them did not do as well this year as in years' past. The Texas Top 10 (US rankings are in parentheses)
1. Jacob (1), Sophia (1)

Kaitlyn (100)Spanish names continue to be a prominent part of the list, but they lost ground, ranking-wise, just as they did on the national level. The boys were especially hard hit, probably because there is less crossover usage between Hispanics & non-Hispanics for their names than for the girl names. +/- Changes from 2010 to 2011:
Jose -2
Angel -5
Juan -2
Jesus -1
Diego -10
Carlos -4
Santiago no change
Miguel -1
Alejandro -7
Leonardo -2
Jorge -5
Eduardo -13
Fernando, Antonio, & Ricardo dropped out of the top 100.Camila +4
Valeria -13
Maria -1
Ximena +28
Natalia -9
Daniela -2
Liliana +4
Alondra and Eva joined the top 100; Isabel, Valentina, and Ana dropped out.I'll try to come back later and edit in the complete Top 100 with ranking comparisons.
