Re: An interesting ancestor set

Funny. I think that the temperance movement was incredibly stupid, that Prohibition must have really sucked, I'm really glad that it didn't last, and I really like a drink or two. But I still love Temperance and the nickname Tempe. I guess that I'm successful in giving a broader meaning to the word "temperance". But now that I think of it, given that I feel the way that I do, Temperance is a name that I should probably never consider really using. Like Faith.I really like Mercy (even though my daughter knew a bitchy Mercy) and Patience, also, but hate Prudence.

I have a hard time thinking of Mercy as a girls name. Having an uncle named Mercy really colors my opinion. Lol.

Wot? A bitchy Mercy? How is that possible? Didn't she see her name and know how to act accordingly? :-P

I actually kind of feel like with any virtue name, the bearer is going to turn out to be the exact opposite. For example, Patience will be the most impatient person on the planet. Temperance is going to be quite immoderate. Verity will love to "weave stories." Chastity... well, too many raunchy jokes already exist, and I don't want to reprint them. And Mercy will be a little terror.
