WDYT, Holden?
I had a dream where I named a son Holden (I wasn't even aware that this was a name until after my dream...weird) and was wondering other peoples opinion's on it, as it has now grown on me...thoughts?Thanks xx

I actually quite like it. It's a make of car here in Australia, but I still like it.

It was the name used for Ford cars in Australia, I think. Long ago, so I'm not sure. And then there's the Caulfield connection. And the way it sounds like an incomplete verb. "Hi, I'm Holden" ... "You're holding what?"

I associate it with Catcher in the Rye. The idea of naming after a J.D. Salinger character makes all the anti-hipster hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I can't imagine a more hipster way to name a child. But to those people who love the name and/or character, and (rightly) don't spend their time obsessing over hipsters, I salute you. I know that hating hipsters obsessively is just as bad (if not worse) than being a hipster. Peace.

I like both the sound and the meaning. It reminds me of the word "holding", but that's not a big deal.

I know a 6 yr old Holden. It feels too literary to me.

For me it's too strongly connected to the Catcher in the Rye and sounds like a name that an angsty teen would rename themselves to be super pretentious.

Love it.I love the character that made it famous, and I love the name itself. I give it a 10.

I like Holden its has that sir name vibe that is super trendy right now but I like that it has more grounded literary roots.
