It's a little too childish IMO. But it's not too far off Jamie, which I don't think is too childish... so ... eh. It could be okay. Not okay enough for me to use, but it isn't necessarily childish, since its relationship to Joseph is pretty clear, like Jamie to James.
People are liable to mispronounce it joe-see.
