I've gone back and forth on this issue myself over the years. At this point, I prefer Elliott, as it is family name for me. I also like Eliot, as in T.S., and in general I prefer names without the superfluous letters. It is interesting to note that the spelling Elliot is most common for both boys and girls. The only one I have ever been able to rule out completely is Eliott...just looks wrong to me.
