I hate the name Melissa. It's so pwetty-pwetty and sickly sweet and obvious. That's what I hate most, the obviousness of it.
But I must say, if one has to use Melissa, Irene is a great middle name for it. It seems to cut the sickly-sweetness of Melissa like a knife.

I like the mn Irene and the flow is nice. Melissa just isn't my cup of tea.
Not that it's a bad name, but being born in the 80s, I feel names like Melissa are a bit, been there, done that. I knew so many Melissas, Meghans, Jessicas, Nicoles and Sarahs that I just don't think I could use the name myself. Like I said, nothing wrong with those names at all, but their overuse in recent decades is a turn off.

Not my style, but the name flows very well. I LOVE the meaning of this name!

I think it's a wonderful combo. I've always liked Melissa, and Irene is such a nice middle name.
