I don't enjoy dumbing-down as a strategy. If people, through no fault of their own, can't pronounce Caedmon, they can be politely explained to. And the original Caedmon was a most interesting man, deserving respect.

Skye ... certainly not weird, unfortunately! Silly, trite and depressingly frequent, rather. Climatological names like Skye, Raine, Sunshine just scream "would-be trendy parents who don't realise they're following a passing trend". I like it for a Scottish island and a breed of terrier, but not on humans.
