Roque, Roch and Rocco
Hello,
Another poster offered the name Roque in a previous response this week. It has me thinking, because I like it so much at first glance. I find it new and interesting, but simple and strong. So, what say you all to the name Roque?
Would you pronounce it like broke, without the 'b' or as ro-kay?Do you prefer Roch or Rocco? Finally, my SIL is name Rochie. I have already considered honoring her with the name Rochelle for a girl, but would Roque or Roch work for a boy in this case (her name is actually pronounce ro-chee, not ro-shee). Thanks!______________________________________________

I'd say ROK eh, like bokeh, but have no idea if that's right. I like the look better than the sound.
I've always thought Roch was a handsome name (there's one in my family, sort of - he's *name*-Roch) and Clarisse and Roch would be lovely. I'd see what your SIL thinks, but I think it would be a nice honoring name.

I would pronounce it like "roke"...like baroque without the ba. I think it's pretty cool, I'd like to meet a Roque. Rocco is fun, but kind of ridiculous, and I love Roch - but people here would probably say it like "roach", which ruins the whole effect.I think Roch would definitely work to honour a Rochie!

Roque I adore, Roch I could definitely get behind, and Rocco I hate. Roque (which I pronounce as ro-kay) is a name I've had on my list for a long time now. Strong, short, and devastatingly handsome. Roch is interesting; I've almost been maybe considering the idea of Rock as a name, but Roch would probably be so much better in practice. Very nice. Rocco, however, always sounded like a "trying too hard to be cool" name to me. I see Rocco as a not-as-tough-as-he-acts gangster, with a downright grating nasally cackle...I really have no idea why, I don't think I've ever encountered the name Rocco used in this context. It is just really unappealing to me.My favorite is definitely Roque, but Roch is still very handsome. Either would work splendidly to honor your SIL.

Not amazed. Rochelle is fine but reminds me of the choclates. So automatically makes me picture someone with a shitload of money \:I prefer Rachelle or even Rachel
