I was recently talking about this name on the boards. I think its better than Arabella. Its short but sweet, and easily assimilated with Ava and Ada out there.

When I was in high school, I was friends with a girl whose older sister was an Ara. I really like it, both on its own and as a nickname for something like Arabella or Samara.

My biggest concern with Ara is that it could be carelessly misread as Ava. I think that could happen a lot.

I think it's alright, for a boy. I don't like it for a girl though. What about Aria instead? Or Eira?
